Annual Report 2023

GEI held its inaugural 2022 Production Bootcamp at Netflix for a full-day of production-specific training, discussions, and networking. Codega Media kicked off the event with “How to Be a PA 101,” providing an overview of on-set work, and facilitating walkie and C-stand demos. Attendees then heard from The Martin Agency and Hungry Man Productions, who delved into the advertising industry, and GEI production assistant panelists, who shared their on-set experiences and pathways into local unions. Netflix production representatives discussed their individual career paths toward working in virtual production and VFX, and the event closed with info sessions for Netflix’s career programs in production.

GEI co-hosted its first in-person NYC event in partnership with Banijay Americas and Truly Original at their offices. Attendees got to learn about the company from Truly Original’s Co-Presidents and CEOs, Glenda Hersh and Steven Weinstock, and gained exposure to the unscripted industry through panel discussions with Truly Original and Netflix executives.

GEI co-hosted a virtual Director’s Treatment Workshop with Vendetta Entertainment for participants to learn about building Director’s treatments for both advertising and narrative content. The workshop provided insight and guidance on how participants can create treatments for themselves or for commercial pitches.

GEI participants engaged in a mock interview session with representatives from United Talent Agency’s Foundation team. Attendees participated in two rounds of virtual mock interviews where they received feedback and tips from industry experts.

GEI participants had the opportunity to take a guided studio tour at the Disney Burbank lot. Then, attendees were invited to participate in an interactive workshop with the Disney Campus Recruitment team where recruiters reviewed attendees’ resumes and provided interview preparation tips as well.
