Attendees learned how television series are made, from idea to script to screen. Panelists included the Head of Television at Maximum Effort , a WME Agent for Non-Scripted Television, WME Co-Head of Scripted Television, and the Executive Director of Literary Scouting at FOX Entertainment. Following the event, attendees networked with the panelists and WME staff. Thank you to WME for hosting us in NYC!
Sony Pictures Television Nonfiction provided an overview of nonfiction development and introduced their development pods, which have developed iconic shows like 90 Day Fiancé, Love After Lockup, and American Idol. Afterwards, attendees sharpened their interview skills with a mock interview session!
Group Effort participants visited Samson Stages in Brooklyn for the inside scoop on all things commercial production - camera-to-cloud technology, costume design, props, post-production, unions for commercial production professionals, and more!
Scriptation: The Basics and Beyond! Participants received training on how to use Scriptation - the Emmy® award-winning app for film and TV production. Participants learned all of the essential tools to streamline workflows from pre-production to post.
Group Effort’s inaugural Mid Level Bootcamp was a daylong event for Group Effort participants with at least 3-5 years of entertainment work experience who are moving up the career ladder to mid-level roles. Attendees learned about personal branding, competitive interview skills, applying employer feedback, and leadership etiquette to equip them for managerial and higher-level positions. The bootcamp also included a specialized software editing workshop and networking mixer with our industry partners!
Group Effort is thrilled to host its first virtual office hours for our East Coast Participants. Industry professionals will work with Group Effort participants one-on-one to polish their job submission materials, such as cover letters and resumes, and provide interview pointers that are crucial to secure entertainment careers. Industry professionals can also share their journeys and offer career advice if time permits.
Group Effort co-hosted a virtual event with C3 Management. C3 introduced their work as artists managers, as well as some of the other fields in the music industry that they are adjacent to, and some of the soft/hard skills needed for this line of work. They also touched on the different ways the music industry and film industry intersect.
