What is GEI?
The Group Effort Initiative (GEI) exists to create a pipeline for members of underrepresented communities to get real experience towards lasting careers within the entertainment industry.
How can interested applicants apply?
GEI works with community-based pipeline organizations and local colleges to identify and recruit participants that are interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. If you are interested in applying to become a GEI participant, we recommend getting connected to a pipeline based in your community, such as a local organization or your college who can apply on your behalf.
If GEI works within a city that has limited organizations and colleges, it will open up its application process directly into the community.
Are there any restrictions to be considered for GEI? (age, experience, etc.)
GEI welcomes individuals from underrepresented communities that are age 18 and over with varying experience levels to apply for the program. We especially encourage those of historically underrepresented identities (people of color, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, etc.) to apply.
Does GEI guarantee a job placement?
On both the production and corporate side, hiring decisions are made by the respective company. While GEI cannot guarantee job placement, participants are welcome to attend year-round professional development trainings to polish their application materials.
